Paintball is an action-packed activity where the thrill and excitement will get your adrenaline pumping! Paintball games are offered daily. The activity length is about 2 hours (double period), which is plenty of time for 3 or 4 games. Each summer Cayuga hosts the annual intercamp paintball championship game. It’s an intense battle against campers from nearby camps, and loads of fun! Paintball is an optional activity for campers entering 5th grade and higher. Advance registration is required.
Paintball games take place in a large secluded playing area where the natural landscape ensures each game to be challenging. The area features open fields, rolling hills, trees, bunkers, natural barriers, and man-made obstacles including inflatables, shelters, and a shed. Cayuga provides all of the equipment. The paintball gun is a Tipman Custom Marker, which is a semi-automatic that doesn’t require reloading after each shoot. The paintballs are small, water-soluble, non-toxic, and biodegradable, and won’t stain your clothes. They burst open upon impact, and feels like getting hit with a tennis ball. Campers are given about 300 paintballs. For safety precautions, a face shield is provided.
You’ll learn a lot from a paintball game - planning strategies, developing teamwork, and learning what it takes to ‘survive’. The games also promote good sportsmanship and camaraderie among its players. While there are valuable lifelong lessons learned from a paintball game, this activity is most popular for its adrenaline-pumping action!
The paintball program is supervised by our paintball director who is a qualified individual capable of operating and managing a safe program for our campers. The paintball staff are college-aged counselors who have demonstrated the ability to provide mature guidance, and are trained to fulfill the roles of game referees and team coaches.
Cayuga follows the same safety guidelines set forth by commercial paintball areas. Safety rules and regulations are reviewed before each game, and a safety shield is worn at all times. There’s always a staff member present who holds current certification in first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Safety is #1 at Camp Cayuga!
